Privacy Policy

1. Who We Are
Hook ("Hook", "we", "us", "our") is a social and creative intelligence platform for marketing teams. Hook collects publicly available content from social platforms, analyses it with AI, and turns it into competitive insights, creative blueprints, and an AI assistant.
Hook is a trading name of Markt AI Ltd, a company registered in England and Wales (company number 16133663), registered office 128 City Road, London EC1V 2NX, United Kingdom. Markt AI Ltd is the data controller responsible for your information and is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Hook AI, Inc., a Delaware corporation (our US parent).
For any privacy question, contact contact@askhook.com.
2. Who This Policy Covers
This policy applies to two groups of people:
- Customers & users — people who create an account, join a workspace, or otherwise use Hook.
- Creators, brands & public accounts we analyse — the owners of the public social media accounts and content that our customers ask Hook to research. If your public content has been analysed by Hook and you would like it removed, see section 9.
3. Data We Collect
We collect and process the following categories of data:
- Account data — email address, name, and workspace information you provide when you register or are invited to a workspace.
- Publicly available social media data — to power research and analysis, Hook collects publicly available data from social platforms including Instagram, TikTok, YouTube, LinkedIn, X (Twitter), and Facebook. This is gathered through third-party data-collection providers and may include public profile information (handle, name, bio, follower and following counts, profile picture), public posts and videos (including their media, captions, and metadata), and public engagement metrics (views, likes, comments, engagement rate). We do not collect private accounts, private messages, or content that is not publicly accessible.
- Content you upload — files and documents you add to a workspace knowledge base (e.g. brand guidelines, audience research) to ground the AI assistant.
- Usage & device data — pages visited, features used, and interaction events, collected via analytics tooling to operate and improve the product.
- Billing data — subscription and payment method details processed by our payment provider. Hook does not store raw card numbers.
4. How We Use Your Data
- To provide, operate, and secure the Hook platform for your workspace.
- To analyse publicly available social content using AI models and generate creative blueprints, benchmarks, performance insights, and video-level breakdowns for our customers' research.
- To power the Hook AI assistant, which retrieves and reasons over stored analyses and your workspace's knowledge base to answer questions.
- To process payments and manage your subscription.
- To send product, account, and (where permitted) marketing emails. You can unsubscribe at any time.
- To improve our product and models through analytics and aggregated insights.
5. Legal Bases (UK & EU GDPR)
Where UK or EU data protection law applies, we rely on the following legal bases:
- Contract — to create and manage your account, provide the service, and process billing.
- Legitimate interests — to collect and analyse publicly available social content for the purpose of competitive and creative market research, and to secure and improve the platform. We balance these interests against the rights of the individuals concerned; you can object at any time (see section 9).
- Consent — for optional marketing communications, and for non-essential analytics cookies, which activate only once you sign up or sign in (see section 10).
6. Who We Share Data With
We do not sell or rent your personal data. We share data only with service providers who act as our processors under appropriate data protection terms, and where required by law. Our providers fall into the following categories:
- Cloud hosting & infrastructure — hosting the application, database, and file storage.
- Payment processing — to take subscription payments.
- Product analytics & diagnostics — to understand product usage and monitor errors.
- Customer support & communications — support messaging and transactional email.
- Data-collection providers — to gather publicly available social media data.
- AI / machine-learning providers — to analyse content and power the assistant.
- Search & indexing infrastructure — to index analysed content for AI retrieval.
A list of our specific sub-processors is available to customers on request, under confidentiality — see our Sub-Processors page. Content processed by our AI providers is handled under their enterprise/API terms and, where offered, is not used to train their models. We may also disclose data to comply with legal obligations or to protect the rights and safety of our users.
7. International Transfers
Hook is operated from the United Kingdom, and our US parent and several of our providers are located in the United States. Where we transfer personal data outside the UK or EEA, we rely on appropriate safeguards such as the UK International Data Transfer Agreement, EU Standard Contractual Clauses, or an adequacy decision.
8. Data Retention & Storage
Unlike a purely real-time tool, Hook stores and indexes the analyses it produces so that your workspace can revisit them and the AI assistant can reason over them. Account data is retained for as long as your workspace is active and for up to 90 days after account deletion for backup purposes. Analysed public content, creative blueprints, video analyses, and their vector embeddings are stored for as long as they remain relevant to your workspace, and are deleted when you delete the associated ecosystem or account, or on request (see section 9). Uploaded knowledge-base files are retained until you delete them or your workspace is closed. Billing records are retained for the period required by law.
9. Your Rights
If you are in the UK or the European Economic Area, you have the right to access, rectify, erase, restrict, or object to the processing of your personal data, the right to data portability, and the right to withdraw consent at any time where we rely on consent.
If you are a creator, brand, or account owner whose publicly available content has been analysed by Hook, you can object to this processing or request that we remove your data from our platform. Email contact@askhook.com with the subject line "Removal Request" and the account(s) concerned.
To exercise any right, or to request deletion of your account and all associated data, email contact@askhook.com with the subject line "Data Request". We will respond within 30 days. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with the UK Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) at ico.org.uk, or with your local supervisory authority.
10. Cookies & Analytics
We use cookies and similar technologies for authentication and security (essential), and for product analytics and error monitoring to understand and improve the product. Essential cookies are required to run the service and run automatically. Non-essential analytics cookies activate only once you sign up or sign in to Hook — by continuing to use the Service at that point, you agree to their use. If you are browsing the site anonymously, logged out, we do not track you. We honour the browser "Do Not Track" signal, and we do not currently use session recording or screen-replay technology. See our Cookie Policy for details, or contact us at contact@askhook.com.
11. Children
Hook is a business tool and is not directed at children. You must be at least 18 years old, or have the legal capacity to enter into a contract in your jurisdiction, to use the Service.
12. Changes to This Policy
We may update this policy from time to time. When we do, we will update the "Last updated" date above and, for material changes, notify you by email.
