Cookie Policy
Last updated: 12 July 2026
1. Who we are
This Cookie Policy is issued by Markt AI Ltd (company no. 16133663), registered office 128 City Road, London EC1V 2NX, United Kingdom, trading as "Hook" ("Hook", "we", "us"). Markt AI Ltd is a subsidiary of Hook AI, Inc., a Delaware, USA corporation. This policy explains how we use cookies and similar technologies on our website and product, and how you can control them.
This policy should be read alongside our Privacy Policy, which explains in full how we collect, use, and protect personal data.
2. What cookies and similar technologies are
Cookies are small text files placed on your device when you visit a website or use a web application. They allow a site to recognise your device, remember information about your visit, and make the service work more reliably.
We also use similar technologies that perform an equivalent function, including:
- Local storage and session storage — data stored in your browser rather than in a cookie file, used for the same purposes as cookies.
- Pixels and SDKs — small pieces of code embedded in pages or in-product screens that record that an event occurred (for example, a page view or button click).
Where this policy refers to "cookies", it should be read to include these similar technologies unless stated otherwise.
3. Our consent model
We do not use a cookie-consent banner. Instead, our model works as follows:
- Cookies and technologies that are strictly necessary for the site and product to function (see section 5.1) are set automatically for every visitor, logged in or not. These do not require consent because the service cannot be provided without them.
- Non-essential cookies — product analytics and diagnostics (section 5.2) — are not set for anonymous, logged-out visitors browsing our site.
- Non-essential analytics activate only once you sign up or sign in to a Hook account. By continuing to use the product after signing in, you agree to this processing, as described in our Terms of Service and Privacy Policy.
- We honour the browser Do Not Track signal where it is sent.
- We do not currently use session recording or screen-replay technology. If this changes in future, we will update this policy and, if required by law, seek your consent before enabling it.
If you have questions about how consent works or want to raise a concern, contact us using the details in section 9.
4. Consumers, business use, and global reach
Hook is used by consumers, sole traders, and businesses around the world. This policy is designed to meet applicable UK and EU cookie-related requirements (including the UK Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations and, where relevant, the EU ePrivacy rules) regardless of where you access our site or product from.
5. Categories of cookies and technologies we use
We describe below each category of cookie or technology we use, its purpose, its approximate duration, and whether it is set by us directly (first-party) or by a provider acting on our behalf (third-party). We do not name individual sub-processors here; a named list is available to customers on request under NDA (see our Sub-processors page).
5.1 Essential (always on — no consent required)
| Purpose | Description | Typical duration | First/third-party |
|---|---|---|---|
| Authentication | Keeps you signed in to your Hook account and identifies your session securely. | Session, or up to 30 days for "remember me" sessions | First-party |
| Security & fraud prevention | Helps detect and prevent malicious activity, bot abuse, and unauthorised access attempts. | Session to 12 months | First-party |
| Load balancing & infrastructure routing | Ensures requests are routed to the correct server instance so the product works reliably at scale. | Session | First-party (set by our cloud hosting & infrastructure providers on our behalf) |
5.2 Product analytics & diagnostics (non-essential — signed-in users only)
| Purpose | Description | Typical duration | First/third-party |
|---|---|---|---|
| Usage analytics | Measures how the product is used (pages viewed, features used, workflow completion) so we can improve it. Not active for logged-out visitors. | Up to 12 months | Set by our product analytics & diagnostics providers, acting on our behalf |
| Error & performance diagnostics | Captures crash reports, error logs, and performance metrics to help us fix bugs and maintain reliability. | Up to 12 months | Set by our product analytics & diagnostics providers, acting on our behalf |
We do not currently use session recording or screen-replay technology.
5.3 Support messenger (signed-in users only)
| Purpose | Description | Typical duration | First/third-party |
|---|---|---|---|
| In-product chat/support widget | Enables the in-product support messenger, remembers your open conversation, and allows our support team to respond to you. | Session to 12 months | Set by our customer support & communications providers, acting on our behalf |
6. International transfers of analytics-type data
Some of the categories above (in particular product analytics and diagnostics, and support-messenger data) may be processed by providers with infrastructure located outside the UK/EEA, including in the United States. Where this happens, we rely on appropriate safeguards — the UK International Data Transfer Agreement and/or the EU Standard Contractual Clauses, as applicable — to ensure the data receives an equivalent standard of protection. Further detail is in our Privacy Policy.
7. Third-party cookies set by embedded content
If a page embeds third-party content (for example, a payment checkout frame from our payment processing providers), that provider may set its own cookies under its own privacy and cookie policies, over which we have limited control.
8. How to control cookies
You can control cookies in the following ways:
- Your browser settings — most browsers let you block or delete cookies, or alert you when a cookie is set. Blocking essential cookies may prevent the product from working correctly (for example, you may be unable to stay signed in).
- Do Not Track — where your browser sends this signal, we honour it. This is an evolving area and we will update this policy as our capability develops.
- Signing out — non-essential product analytics only activate once you sign in; signing out and browsing anonymously means these are not set.
- Contact us — email contact@askhook.com with any question or request relating to cookies.
9. Related policies and contact
For full detail on how we collect, use, store, and protect personal data — including publicly available social content, account data, and workspace content — see our Privacy Policy.

10. Changes to this policy
We may update this Cookie Policy from time to time, for example when we add or remove a category of cookie or technology. We will update the "last updated" date at the top of this document.
11. Governing law
This document is governed by the laws of England and Wales, consistent with our Terms of Service.
